The Structure Design And Material Requirements Of The Sprocket

Dec 12, 2020

The transmission sprocket is a gear-shaped mechanical part that meshes with the chain. It appears widely in life, such as bicycles, motorcycles, etc., and we can come into contact with it in our lives. The tooth profile of the sprocket should ensure that the chain can enter and exit the mesh smoothly, minimize the impact and contact stress of the chain link during the meshing process, and make it easier to process.

The commonly used sprocket end tooth profile is composed of three arcs aa, ab, cd and a straight line bc, referred to as three arc-straight tooth profile. The tooth profile is processed with standard tools. It is not necessary to draw the end gear on the chain work drawing, just indicate it on the drawing, and draw the inner structure of the sprocket shaft. Generally speaking, small-diameter sprockets are generally made in one piece, and diameter sprockets are made into spokes. In order to facilitate transportation, clamping and weight reduction, holes are punched in the spoke plate, and chains with large diameters can be made into a combined type. At this time, the ring gear and the wheel core can be made of different materials, such as C45 and stainless steel.

The material of the sprocket should ensure that the gear teeth have sufficient strength and wear resistance, so the tooth surface of the chain is usually heated and burned to achieve a certain hardness. Small sprocket, the design is quite troublesome, but because of such strict design, durable products can well serve our daily lives.
